THE HISTORY OF OUR BRAND LOGO DATES BACK ALMOST 350 YEARS IN TIME. THE DUTCH FARMER THIEME VAN STEEF WHO HAD SETTLED IN NEW AMSTERDAM IN 1657 IS SAID TO HAVE BRANDED HIS COWS WITH THE TS LOGO. THE LEATHERS HE PRODUCED WERE MAINLY USED FOR THE PRODUCTION OF SHOES,TRUNKS AND HEAVY LUGGAGE FOR THE DUTCH WEST INDIA COMPANY.

THE FAMILY VAN STEEF REMAINED PRODUCING LEATHERS FOR THE U.S. MARKET AND MOVED THE TANNERY OFFICE TO BROOKLYN NEW YORK IN 1929. THERE THEY ALSO BEGAN THE PRODUCTION OF CUSTOM LEATHER GOODS AND SUPPLY FOR THE U.S. ARMY, U.S. AIR FORCE AND U.S. NAVY REFERING TO THE TS BRANDING THE LOGO BELOW WAS CHOSEN AS THE NEW COMPANY LOGO IN 1931.

IN 1974 THE STEEF SISTERS ANNE MILLER AND JANE DAWSON BROUGHT BACK THE FAMILY TRADITION TO LIFE AS THEY STARTED THE MANUFACTURING OF A LINE OF LEATHER HANBAGS THAT WHERE SOLD IN SOME LOCAL STORES AROUND. THE COMPANY CHANGED THE NAME AND THE NEW LOGO WAS NAMED TYOULIP SISTERS REMEMBERING THE FAMILY ROOTS AND THE TULIP AS THE NATIONAL DUTCH FLOWER.

IN 2006 TYOULIP HANDBAGS WAS SOLD AND THE BUSINESS WAS TAKEN OVER BY THE NEW OWNERS. YET THE SPIRIT AND THE CRAFTMANSHIP OF THE BRAND LIVES ON. THE SOUL AND HEART OF TYOULIP SISTERS IS STILL SITUATED IN BROOKLYN. STILL ALMOST ALL OF OUR DESIGNS ARE PRODUCED HERE BY OUR AMERICAN CREATIVE DEPARTMENT IN THE HEART OF BROOKLYN NEW YORK.
